IAMT is a post-secondary, two-year professional training program for students 17 years of age and up (exceptional dancers who are 15 or 16 years of age may be considered). We are looking to work with students who have the passion and desire to pursue a career in musical theatre.  We believe in a positive approach to teaching by celebrating what is unique in you, while refining the unexplored potential of your individual artistry. We anticipate an exciting and energetic school year full of hard work and growth for all of our students. The Institute for American Musical Theatre is truly "Broadway's School."

Who do YOU want to learn from?

Merri Sugarman

“IAMT students are comparable to the students at some of the top 4 year schools like ELON, CCM, and University of Michigan.”

Katie Murphy

Talent Agent - Pantera/Murphy Agency

"IAMT is an incredible institution that is training the next generation of stars for both stage and screen. Being in the presence of these young professionals absolutely fuels my soul and inspires me.”

Richard J. Hinds

Choreographer

"IAMT is so much more than a place to learn how to act, sing and dance.  It is a safe environment that allows its students to explore  and become the Performing Artist they hope to be.  Taught by active members of the industry with real world sensibility is one of the many things that gives the students a solid foundation from which to launch their careers! The students come out of this training program ready to work."

Scott Wojcik

Casting Director - Wojcik Casting (Jesus Christ Superstar national tour, RENT national tour, Kinky Boots national tour, Something Rotten national tour)

"IAMT is doing it right. The care, the attention and the training given to these students is unparallel. I have been honored to teach there for many years and seeing the growth in the students every time I return is unlike anywhere else. Not only are they coming out as true triple threats,  they are coming out as good human beings. They are people that you want to hire because they will raise the level of your production on stage and off. "

Gayle Seay

Artistic Director - Stages of St Louis

"The quality of talent and training at IAMT is absolutely wonderful and quite impressive!! I look forward to seeing the emerging talent from this comprehensive program every year!"

Craig Holzberg

Talent Agent - Avalon Artists

"We were fortunate to partner with IAMT for a workshop of a new musical in development. It was a dynamite experience. We were very impressed with the level of dedication by both staff and students. It was a joyful process all around. We especially appreciate the love and care that Michael Minarik, the Director of IAMT,  shows our team as well as his students. We are looking forward to developing future pre-Broadway shows with IAMT."

"IAMT is a training facility like no other. The students are surrounded by working theatre professionals who can give them knowledge that can only come from people who are currently doing it! What it's really like to be in an audition and in tech and working on a new play or musical or tv show. The bar is set high but the environment is warm and encouraging. I feel so lucky and proud to teach these incredible young performers. They inspired me to be my best in the room and onstage."
